Jerry Jones Impressed by Cheeky Remark on George Pickens Amid Franchise Tag Decision

During the NFL combine in Indianapolis, the owner and general manager of the Cowboys invited reporters onto his luxury bus and had several conversations on various topics.

One remark by a reporter left the owner impressed.

There has been plenty of talk about wide receiver George Pickens in recent times. The WR had a breakout 2025 season for the Cowboys.

When asked about Pickens and the relationship currently, Jones said, “I want our George Pickens situation to be all honey,” Jerry Jones said.

A reporter responded to this statement, saying, “Honey money.” Jerry Jones did have a laugh and seemed impressed by the comment made by the reporter.

To the comment, Jones responded, saying, “I didn’t say that cause it sounds like I am joking, but boy, that’s pretty good.” The general manager had a good laugh at this exchange with the reporter.

Pickens and the Cowboys have time to negotiate a long-term deal. Pickens looks to be happy in Dallas, and for the Cowboys, they would certainly use the offensive prowess he is capable of.

Jones also said, “Seriously, I want it very clear that I cannot tell you how positive we feel about him.” Intentions are being shown here, both by the management and the player, but will they come to a deal, or will he play the season on the tag? Only time can answer that question.

What are the teams that could look to trade for George Pickens?

As much as there is optimism for these two entities to continue together, at the end of the day, the NFL is a business, and a funny one at that. There is nothing guaranteed until the dotted lines are signed.

There are teams in the league who could use a wide receiver with the likes of Pickens. 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns in the 2025 season are some impressive numbers.

The San Francisco 49ers are one particular team that could go after him, given that they desperately need help at this position.

It is clear as day that Brandon Aiyuk has played his last snap and will leave the franchise. With Jauan Jennings also becoming a free agent, Pickens would be a good fit for this offense.

Another team that could use the services of George Pickens would be the New Orleans Saints.

While they have several issues to sort through, one of them is the wide receiver position. Chris Olave has battled through several injuries, and they traded Rashid Shaheed to Seattle. Pickens explosive offense style could help the Saints in rebuilding.
