Jerry Jones Last Ditch Effort For Maxx Crosby Before Ravens Fiasco Revealed

“So while I don't anticipate it, I don't want to rule anything out,” Jerry Jones said days after the Maxx Crosby and Baltimore Ravens trade deal collapsed.

The Dallas Cowboys franchise owner had made every last effort to land Crosby, the elite defensive end of the Las Vegas Raiders. And he had nearly landed him, too, before the Ravens swooped in.

According to X posts made by The Cowboys Network on Tuesday, the Cowboys had offered three deals to the Raiders, which they outright rejected.

The Cowboys first offered the first-round, 20th overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft, and defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa in return for Crosby. Since that did not work out, their second offer included the first-round 12th pick and a third-round pick.

Lastly, Jones offered the 12th overall pick and a second-round pick.

According to Pro Football Talk reports during the scouting combine week, the Raiders wanted two first-round picks and a player. Although they did not land a player, the Ravens offered them the two first-round picks they wanted.

The deal was so close that Crosby posted a nearly 13-minute video saying goodbye to the franchise and its fans. The 29-year-old was supposedly parting ways with the Raiders after playing with the Raiders for six seasons.

Drafted in 2019, the defensive end appeared in 110 games and made 439 tackles. He recorded 69.5 sacks and 106 stuffs. In Week 7, Crosby sustained a serious knee injury but continued to play throughout the season.

But Is the Injury Truly as Serious as the Ravens Make It Out to Be?

Crosby played in 15 games, recorded 73 tackles, and 10 sacks. However, he underwent surgery in January 2026 for the torn meniscus in his left knee. But the ‘degenerative’ nature of the injury caught up with him as the Ravens flagged in during his physical test.

Soon, reports made headlines claiming that the trade deal was withdrawn due to this injury. Crosby is deemed questionable on the roster, but it appears his injury does not affect the Cowboys like it did the Ravens.

“This is, this is not over. Let’s revisit at the trade deadline,” a senior Cowboys told DLLS Cowboys podcast host Jeff Cavanaugh on Tuesday.

Hill dismissed the Ravens’ claims about Crosby’s longevity on the show, noting that he thrived last season and played in his fifth consecutive Pro Bowl.

“What they’re saying in Baltimore, ‘We’re worried about degenerative.’ He’ll play this year, but what about two or three years down the line? It’s about winning now.”

“I am not worried about 2027 and 2028. If I get to the Super Bowl this year, he don’t have to play in ‘27 and ‘28. We’re gonna be fine,” Hill said, dismissing any concerns about Crosby’s future.

If Hill is to be believed, then Crosby could be seen in the Cowboys’ colors soon.
