Jerry Jones makes a major move at the Star with a new real estate deal

According to a recent report by The Dallas Morning News, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has sold a major office tower at The Star in Frisco, changing part of his family’s real estate portfolio. The deal also gives a Massachusetts firm its first property in Texas.

“The real estate arm of Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and his family has sold an office building at The Star in Frisco to a Massachusetts real estate investment firm,” Nick Wooten of The Dallas Morning News wrote.

Hobbs Brook Real Estate announced the purchase on Wednesday after county records showed the deal closed in late June.

Jones has handed over the Class A building, a roughly 300,000-square-foot tower at The Star in Frisco, the Cowboys' practice facility, to a new owner.

“The 11-story building is 98% leased, and tenants include Fifth Third Bank, Cain Watters & Associates, McAfee, and Baker Tilly US,” Wooten wrote in The Dallas Morning News on July 22. “The firm targets ‘high-quality office assets in growth-oriented markets with strong demographic and economic fundamentals’ and could expand further in Dallas-Fort Worth.”

Hobbs Brook Company has spent more than 70 years in real estate and manages a portfolio of about 4.7 million square feet with more than 181 tenants, making its move into Frisco much bigger than a one-building purchase.

The deal stands out because the property has a $146.2 million tax value and marks Brook Real Estate's first property in Texas.

Blue Star Land and Lincoln Property Co. began work on the glass tower in 2021, with HKS handling the design. The building became the first multitenant office to open at The Star after the Cowboys’ original headquarters opened in 2016.

The Cowboys owner took a big step by selling the high-value leased property, which will allow his real-estate firm, Blue Star Land, to redirect the funds acquired into other investments.

However, another choice Jones made involving the Cowboys could draw even more attention when the season begins.

Jones could regret letting Dante Fowler leave Dallas

Jerry Jones and the Cowboys decided not to bring Dante Fowler back after the veteran pass rusher spent the 2025 season in Dallas. Fowler later signed with the Seattle Seahawks, giving the defending champions another proven option on defense.

His move has drawn a lot of attention ahead of training camp. Pro Football Focus reporter Bradley Locker even named Fowler among one of the NFL’s most “underappreciated acquisitions".

“Working on a bad Dallas defense didn’t hinder Fowler in 2025. Across 248 pass-rushing snaps, Fowler registered a 72.8 PFF pass-rush grade with a 14.3% pass-rush win rate. Both figures sat in at least the 72nd percentile, and he added an 85th-percentile PFF run-defense mark as well,” Locker of PFF wrote.

Fowler joined former Cowboys pass rusher DeMarcus Lawrence with the Seahawks. Dallas now has Donovan Ezeiruaku, first-round rookie Malachi Lawrence, Rashan Gary, Sam Williams, and Jame Houston among its edge options.

Fowler completed 2025 with three sacks in 17 games and 11 starts. In 2024, he had 10.5 sacks for Washington as the Commanders reached the NFC Championship Game.

Dallas saved money and created room for younger players, but that choice now puts pressure on its edge group to replace Fowler’s work against the pass and the run.

What do you think will Jones’ younger defensive plan pay off, or will Fowler give Dallas a reason to regret letting him leave? Share your thoughts in the comments!
