Jerry Jones Makes Final Decision On Maxx Crosby Trade

Even before the Baltimore Ravens were trending for trading Maxx Crosby, Jerry Jones' Dallas Cowboys were heavily involved. Jones recently attended the NFL Owners' Meeting in Arizona, and with Crosby back on the block, the Dallas GM shed light on the prospective trading move.

While Jones discussed the possibility of drafting Crosby this year, he avoided a firm commitment. He left the door just slightly open.

“I don't anticipate standing here right now, revisiting that situation. I don't anticipate it. Is it possible? Yes.” Jones said.

According to ESPN reporter Ryan McFadden, the Dallas Cowboys made three different trade offers for Crosby, each being more profitable than the last.

“Initial offers centered on Dallas’ second first-round pick at No.20 and defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa,” McFadden noted. “The Cowboys then offered their top First-rounder at No.12 and a third-round pick. Ultimately, the Cowboys moved to No.12 and their second-round pick, but the last two offers, sources said, did not include Odighizuwa."

But a failed physical with the Baltimore Ravens put a pause on his trade talks, bringing him back with the Las Vegas Raiders. It reignited further trade talk with other teams, and it's mostly due to the production of Crosby throughout his career.

He has been consistent in recording 20+ tackles for loss from the 2022 NFL season (except 2024), scoring a career-high of 28 tackles for loss in the 2025 season. But what made Jones not be aggressive about trying their luck with Crosby this time?

The Raiders' defensive end could have been an instant game-changer for Dallas. But Jones made it clear that the Cowboys, under Christian Parker, are choosing young talent over trading away top draft assets for a veteran star.

Head Coach Brian Schottenheimer expressed surprise at how the trade unfolded. He emphasized that trade involving elite players like Crosby tends to move faster and is highly competitive across the league.

Co-owner Stephen Jones did not rule out any possibility when asked about the failed Maxx Crosby trade.

“We look at a lot of different situations. We look at some that never hit the media, if you will," Jones said. "We’re always looking to make our football team better, and if you find that situation, then we’ll do it.”

So, no one from the Dallas Cowboys came with a concrete 'yes' for the possibility of trading Maxx Crosby. Currently, Dallas is in a strong position to add at least one, maybe two solid defensive players with two picks in the first round and another pick in the third round.

In that way, whichever way Jerry Jones' Dallas Cowboys choose to attack the draft, they have enough options.
