The Dallas Cowboys have started making moves in the 2026 NFL free agency after being somewhat silent on day 1.
Their owner, Jerry Jones, has reflected on the strategy, but the fans aren't happy with it.
Jones gave a statement to Associated Press answering the question of whether he was happy or not with what the NFL franchise has done so far in free agency.
"Yes. I think we're within the boundaries of what we have available, what we're trying to accomplish with draft picks and with (salary) cap. I wouldn't try to re-visit or try to re-do what we've done on either that cap or the trades we've made. I like what we got," he said.
So far in the 2026 NFL Free Agency, the Cowboys have acquired Rashan Gary from the Green Bay Packers in exchange for a 2027 fourth-round pick. Plus, they have also signed former Arizona Cardinals safety Jalen Thompson.
The contract is reported to be a three-year, $33 million deal. Other than him, they have also signed Safety P. J. Locke, Defensive Tackle Otito Ogbonnia, Quarterback Sam Howell, and Cornerback Cobie Durant.
On the trading front, they have traded Osa Odighizuwa to the San Francisco 49ers for a 2026 third-round pick.
They have also traded Solomon Thomas to the Tennessee Titans for a seventh-round pick. Then they have also waived DT Perrion Winfrey, saving about $1.075 million in 2026 salary-cap space. Jerry Jones has also released LB Logan Wilson, freeing up $6.5 million of cap space.
Skip Bayless Is Not Happy With Jerry Jones
Bayless said the team has not been aggressive enough in free agency and questioned Jerry Jones' decisions.
Taking to X on March 11, the NFL analyst said:
"After Jerry said he'd "bust the budget" in free agency, I dared him to pull off any one of these in order: sign Trey Hendrickson, trade for Maxx, sign Devin Lloyd or Riq or Nakobe. He pulled off none of the above. He just blew smoke, then blew it. He just busted."
Although Jones and the Cowboys have made some moves, they have yet to bring in a big name.
