It has been a full season since Jerry Jones traded Micah Parsons, and it is still making headlines. This time, sparking concerns for George Pickens.
The Morning News asked Jones if he learned anything from trading away Parsons last season. “I didn’t necessarily learn,” the Cowboys' owner said.
“I say that because hopefully you learn something all the way. But what I would say is that the reason those talks didn’t work was not the talks or the personalities or not talking to the agent. The reason it didn’t work is Micah got priced away from us. It was just worth more to us to have the picks than to have him. I’m serious.”

Tensions rose between Jones and Parsons after the former reportedly tried to negotiate directly without Parsons’ agent. This led to public pushback and comments from Parons. The Cowboys ultimately traded him to the Green Bay Packers for two first-round picks and Kenny Clark.
Parsons was seeking a much bigger contract than what he made under his rookie deal. A similar situation seems to be brewing between George Pickens and Jerry Jones. The latter's comments hint that if worse comes to worst, he might end up trading Pickens as well.
Pickens is all set to be a free agent in 2026. But Jerry Jones has said, "I'm looking forward to getting things worked out so George can be a Cowboy a long time." The 24-year-old has also said at the Pro Bowl that he wishes to be with the Dallas Cowboys.
But he also pointed out that it's not in his control, and he's hoping for the best in the negotiation process. And the big question that every Cowboys fan might be asking is whether Jones thinks there is something more valuable than investing in Pickens?
Dak Prescott and Others Have asked Jerry Jones to Bring Back George Pickens
Dak Prescott feels that it's vital and must be done. "I think obviously from Jerry to everybody down understands that, and one the impact on this offense and the team and the great player that he is, we've got to find a way to keep him here," he said.
CeeDee Lamb also wants Pickens on the team. He has gone as far as to say that he does not care if the 24-year-old earns more than Lamb's current $34 million per year. "I don't care about that, I just want my man to get what he deserves," he said.
George Pickens had 93 catches for 1,429 yards and scored 9 touchdowns in 17 games in 2025. Do you think Jerry Jones should get him back on the team for the 2026 season? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
