The Dallas Cowboys have already reshaped their roster and coaching staff after a disappointing 2025 season. Jerry Jones, however, isn't ruling out another move as Dallas chases its first Super Bowl in three decades.
Speaking to reporters Tuesday about the roster, Jones addressed whether the Cowboys still have places where they could improve. His comments came shortly after Dallas added veteran pass rusher Von Miller.
"I think it's fair to say that if we could improve it, which is almost a cliche, we would," Jones said. "Because again, I'm even more excited today than I was when we started camp that our team is going to be one that if we can have some things go right for us, avoid some injury, we could really be something that we all want to be. And that's a team that's competing for the big games.
After speaking to the reporters on August 18 via Dallas YouTube, Jones previously mentioned during training camp that he was willing to use future draft capital in a substantive trade. Miller's signing apparently hasn't changed that approach.

The 37-year-old former All-Pro gives Christian Parker another veteran pass rusher, though Dallas may manage his workload. Miller is one of several defensive additions the Cowboys have made this offseason.
Dallas also added Caleb Downs, Rashan Gary, Cobie Durant, Jalen Thompson, Malachi Lawrence and Dee Winters. The Cowboys made those moves after communication issues, a weak pass rush, and problems in the secondary hurt the defense in 2025.
That wasn't the only area of the roster drawing attention.
Cowboys could add veteran cornerback depth
Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox recently predicted that the Cowboys could sign veteran cornerback Adoree' Jackson to a one-year deal. Dallas may still need another experienced option in the secondary.
"The Dallas Cowboys have made a few splashes this offseason, and they made another when they signed Miller to bolster their pass rush," Knox wrote on August 20. "It appears, though, that Dallas isn't done improving its defense."
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler also reported that the Cowboys are looking for "additional cornerback depth and could target a veteran with coaching ties." Fowler identified Jackson as a "name to watch."
"Dallas is likely to continue weighing options, and Jackson reportedly has interest from multiple teams," Knox added. "However, the prediction here is that Jackson opts for familiarity and stays in the NFC East."
Jackson is only a projection at this point, not a reported Cowboys target. But Jones' latest comments leave the door open for another addition if Dallas finds the right player.
Before the franchise decides on one more addition, much of the attention will shift towards the preseason Week 2 game. After winning against the Seattle Seahawks, they will face the Arizona Cardinals on August 23.
