Jerry Jones Still Eyeing Maxx Crosby Despite the DE's Raiders Commitment

Maxx Crosby could still be on the table for the Dallas Cowboys after the trade with the Baltimore Ravens fell through.

Jerry Jones spoke to reporters at an event promoting an IndyCar series race at AT&T Stadium, stating that he didn't want to close the Crosby chapter yet.

“We’re pretty far down the road relative to what our plans are,” Jones said on the matter. “So while I don’t anticipate it, I don’t want to rule anything out.”

While Jones still has his sights set on Crosby, Crosby has confirmed that he is now a Raider.

“Everything Happens For A Reason. Believe Nothing You Hear & Half Of What You See. I’m A Raider. I’m Back. Run That S***”, Crosby posted on X.

Maxx Crosby was earlier traded to the Baltimore Ravens for two first-round draft picks. However, the deal fell through after the medical concerns surfaced. Crosby had trouble with his knee post-surgery and failed his physical exam.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Cowboys had offered one first-round and one second-round pick in exchange for Crosby. However, they could not match the Ravens’ offer. Now that Crosby’s trade fell through, the Cowboys could still be in the running.

The Cowboys have brought in Green Bay Packers’ Rashan Gary to fill the gap, whom they traded for a fourth-round pick. They have also signed safety Jalen Thompson on a three-year deal of $36 million.

Jerry Jones is pleased with the Cowboys' signings this offseason

Jerry Jones told reporters that he is happy with the way the Cowboys' defense is shaping up.

“I feel very good about it. We have nowhere but up to go on defense. That’s not anyone’s fault at all. But we’re going to almost assuredly be much better. And I’m betting on us improving on offense. That ought to get us a better feeling when we get into December,” Jones said.

Jones had also made comments that he is going to “bust the budget” this offseason. Despite fans and analysts questioning whether he has truly done so, Jones is positive they have done a good job.

“I think we’re within the boundaries of what we have available, what we’re trying to accomplish with draft picks and with (salary) cap. I wouldn’t try to revisit or try to redo what we’ve done on either that cap or the trades we’ve made. I like what we got,” Jones said.
