Jerry Jones Urged To Sign Future HOF After Missing Out On Maxx Crosby

After a defensive collapse last season, a future Hall of Famer might just be what the Cowboys need. While early links to the Las Vegas Raiders were strong, a 39-year-old veteran may be the solution they need.

The Baltimore Ravens interjected the Maxx Crosby trade, causing Dallas to miss out, before everything fell apart. Now, one TheLandryHat writer believes an Arizona veteran's numbers could give Dallas the consistency they lacked.

“Calais Campbell has been one of the league's most consistent pass rushers since 2008. The 6-foot 315-pound veteran would bring a massive presence and help restore credibility to the Cowboys’ defense at a reasonable cost” wrote Jared A’Lotorre.

Even as the veteran nears 40, he's never played under 12 games a year, and barring his rookie campaign, he's produced at least four sacks each year.

The Cowboys, by comparison, only had two players who surpassed four sacks last year. Campbell's consistency is further proven by starting every regular-season game in the last three seasons.

With Quinnen Williams and Kenny Clark fixed as starters in Christian Parker’s defense, Campbell’s contribution could complete the unit. With the Ravens eventually landing Trey Hendrickson, perhaps there may be room for Crosby, too.

Can the Cowboys Still Sign Maxx Crosby?

A failed medical in Baltimore put an end to Maxx Crosby's trade to the Ravens. Though the Cowboys were out of the race, suddenly, they might just get back in. Recently, team owner Jerry Jones spoke about that possibility.

“We’re pretty far down the road relative to what our plans are, so while I did anticipate it, I don't want to rule anything out,” Jones said.

For now, Maxx Crosby is back with the Raiders, but the Cowboys may just enter the race.

The only concern is that Dallas may have to part with one of their two round 1 picks in the NFL draft this year, which might just be a deal-breaker for Jones.
