Seven months after the tragic passing of former Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland, his girlfriend, Catalina Mancera, has welcomed their child, marking the beginning of a new chapter.

Catalina Mancera announced the birth of her son, Makhai, born on June 11. The announcement quickly drew support from Cowboys fans and the NFL fans, many of whom have followed Mancera's story since Kneeland passed in November 2025.

"Born on June 11, 2026- the healthy son of the late Marshawn Kneeland and his girlfriend Catalina Mancera," shared journalist Nick Harris on X. "Welcome to the world, Makhai. ❤️❤️❤️."

Mancera revealed the news through social media with an Instagram post.

"My favorite gift from you. June 11th, 2026," the caption read.

She shared intimate moments of her baby boy's first days. Among the images was a special tribute to Kneeland, showing the bond between father and son.

There was one image in which Makhai is wearing a onesie featuring Kneeland in his No. 94 Cowboys jersey.

Indianapolis Colts safety and former Cowboy Juanyeh Thomas reacted to the post with a string of blue heart emojis. The Cowboys' quarterback, Dak Prescott's ex-fiancée, Sarah Jane, also commented on the post, showering love.

Other Cowboys, including Donovan Ezeiruaku (DE) and Brevynn Spann-Ford (TE), also congratulated Mancera on a social media post.

During a press conference on November 12, the Cowboys' head coach Brian Schottenheimer spoke about how the franchise plans to take care of the mother and her child.

“We want to make sure (Mancera) is taken care of, and the baby is taken care of for the rest of their lives," the head coach mentioned.

Following Kneeland's passing, the Cowboys organization established the Marshawn Kneeland Memorial Fund to support Mancera and their child.

Schottenheimer emphasized the team's commitment to ensuring both mother and child are cared for in the coming years, as per the Dallas Morning News.

Marshawn Kneeland's NFL Legacy

The birth of Marshawn Kneeland's son comes after his demise in November 2025. Kneeland's passing shocked not only the Dallas Cowboys franchise but also the entire NFL community.

"It is with extreme sadness that the Dallas Cowboys share that Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed away this morning," the Cowboys said in their statement. "Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization. Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend, Catalina, and his family," via PEOPLE.

Kneeland was regarded highly within the Cowboys locker room and on the field as well. His contributions earned respect and love from teammates, coaches, and fans through his work ethic and performance.

He recorded 26 total tackles, one sack, and scored his first NFL touchdown on special teams. He was named second-team All-MAC in 2023 during his collegiate career at Western Michigan.

As the NFL celebrates Makhai's birth, fans will continue honoring Kneeland's legacy while cheering on the new member of the family.
