Micah Parsons has been with the Green Bay Packers for just one year. However, in light of NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell's comments on an international team, Parsons is already announcing his future plans.
In an interview with Front Office Sports on February 9, Parsons expressed his strong desire to become part of a different roster.
"I almost think we should create an international team. I know it'd be uneven in divisions, but I look at it like, make it like the Notre Dame of the NFL. Yeah, really. I'll be the first one on board to go over," Micah Parsons told Front Office Sports.
Micah Parsons made the move to the Green Bay Packers in a blockbuster move from the Dallas Cowboys ahead of the 2025 season.
He signed a four-year $188 million contract, with a guaranteed $136 million upon signing, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.
His arrival at the Packers locks him with them till the 2028 season. Yet, from these comments, it is clear that he is very open to trying out something new.
The NFL's global ambitions are growing
The NFL has expanded the game to international markets. They hosted seven games during the 2025 regular season outside the United States and want to host another nine games in the upcoming 2026 season.
Some of these games are scheduled at some of the world's most iconic stadiums, like the Stade de France (Paris) and the Santiago Bernabéu (Madrid). The NFL is also staging matches in new regions, hoping to spark curiosity about the sport.
Australia, for instance, is set to host the San Francisco 49ers versus the Los Angeles Rams in its first-ever NFL match at the MCG, Melbourne. The Dallas Cowboys also confirmed their appearance in the Maracana Stadium in Rio, Brazil.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has even suggested the number of games can be 16 in the future. “You can think of expansion as the number of teams, or you can think of expansion as us playing in international markets,” he told Westwood One Sports.
"I think there are cities out there that could support an NFL team, and we're at the early stages. So you know. I don't take international expansion off the table. I think it is very possible someday," he added.
So Micah Parsons' excitement to play in an international squad may not be so far-fetched after all.
