The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (DCC) participants will audition to earn a spot in the 36-member team. The show captures the struggles from their auditions to the rigorous training camp, and other strict rules to follow to become a cheerleader.
For 16 seasons from 2006 to 2021, CMT's Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team offered viewers an inside look at the demanding audition process and the creation of the Dallas Cowboys' cheerleading squad each year.
But the successor to that show, America’s Sweethearts: The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, garnered broader viewership and attention across different countries.
The popularity is evident from the trailer, which has already garnered 31,893 views on the first day of its release.
“This is the first time we have been viewing applications because of seeing Netflix’s America Sweethearts,” DCC senior director Kelli Finglass said in the trailer.
Head choreographer Judy Trammell and Finglass have been leading the squad for decades, and they are set to be part of Season 3.
The series quickly found a global audience. Season 1 generated 2.3 million views in its first four days and landed in Netflix's Top 10 across 27 countries. Season 2 garnered more hype with 3.3 million views, while charting in 20 countries, according to Angelique Jackson of Variety.
Season 1 premiered on June 20, 2024, and Season 2 premiered on June 18, 2025. All seven episodes for the new season will be available to stream on Netflix on June 16, 2026.
Netflix Reveals What Fans Can Expect in Season 3
Several veterans retired at the end of the season, while others announced plans to return and compete for spots on the 2025–26 squad. Meanwhile, returning hopefuls announced plans to audition again for the 2025–26 season. This keeps the fans intrigued, wondering who will secure the newly available roster spots.
“As the DCC’s global profile grows, the women at the center of it must handle a new level of attention," the official summary of Netflix read. "With incredible opportunities — the first DCC tour, marquee appearances, and growing social media platforms—comes heightened scrutiny and demand for perfection."
Though it's unclear who will be the focus for this season, the trailer featured familiar faces from past seasons, like Kelly Villares, Charly Barby, Reece Weaver, and Anna Kate Sundvold. With 30 veterans returning for auditions, only six spots are left for the rookies, making the competition tougher.
Last season's plot had the women of the squad advocating for equal pay. It also captured the comeback of Kelly V and her training-camp partner, Charly.
