Myles Garrett could be coming home. Following a contract restructure by the Cleveland Browns, an NFL analyst, Tony Grossi, has proposed a blockbuster trade that would land the superstar in Dallas.
The Cleveland Browns quietly reworked Myles Garrett’s contract, a move with significant implications. By easing future cap hits, the door may now be slightly open for a blockbuster move, one that could put the Dallas Cowboys firmly in the picture.
"The key to a Garrett trade, of course, would be to secure an extra pick, or more, in 2027," The Browns Insider wrote. "So I would propose to the Cowboys a trade of their No. 12 this year and their remaining No. 1 next year, plus a player, for Garrett."
The Cowboys do have plenty of draft capital to work with as they have two first-round draft picks. While this could be used on potential talent, Myles Garrett is a proven NFL presence who has never produced fewer than seven sacks.
"The Cowboys own picks No. 12 and No. 20 in this year’s draft. They also have Green Bay’s No. 1 pick in the 2027 draft as a result of the Micah Parsons trade, but gave up their own No. 1 to the Jets for defensive tackle Quincy Williams," Grossi also wrote.
Acquiring Garrett would instantly transform the Cowboys’ defense and fill the void left by Micah Parsons.
A five-time All-Pro and former NFL Defensive Player of the Year, Garrett recorded 23 historic sacks (a new NFL record) last season and became the first player since 1982 to post 12+ sacks in six consecutive campaigns.
As a hometown talent from the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Garrett could be motivated to waive his no-trade clause to return home.

Before the 2017 NFL Draft, he publicly lobbied to be selected by Dallas,
“I’m speaking to you, Jerry,” Garrett said. “Mr. [Jason] Garrett, make it happen. Dak Prescott is leading our team right now. I need you to take Tony Romo, take a couple picks, and give them to Cleveland so you can pick me up, please. I’d love to play in Dallas. Let’s make it happen.”
Though Cleveland ultimately selected him first overall, the comments underscore the strong desire Garrett has long had to play in his home state.
The Dallas Cowboys Face Competition for Myles Garrett
Recent reports have identified several other potential teams for Myles Garrett, with the Dallas Cowboys frequently mentioned due to his Texas roots.
The Buffalo Bills have also emerged as a candidate, seeking elite defensive talent to complement quarterback Josh Allen in his prime.
The Philadelphia Eagles remain in consideration thanks to a strong working relationship between GM Howie Roseman and Browns GM Andrew Berry.
Other possible destinations include the Detroit Lions, who could make a bold move to maximize their Super Bowl window after missing out on the playoffs last year.
Then, there is the New England Patriots, where Garrett’s connection to head coach Mike Vrabel (from 2024) and the team’s young core make a potential fit.
The San Francisco 49ers are also in the mix, aiming to strengthen an aging roster for an immediate championship push.
