NFL Fans Bash Jerry Jones Following Recent Remark on Trading Draft Picks

Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, made a certain remark regarding staying adaptable during the draft at the NFL Owners meeting held in Arizona last month.

Per Patrik Walker of DallasCowboys.com, Jones expressed his intention in bringing in players by going up and down through the trade.

"I've looked at that mirror a lot, about how to go up and down and trade and do those kinds of things,” Jones said during the meeting. “We'll entertain improving or an in-draft read on what gives us a better chance to get another player."

The Boys hold eight draft picks this April. That includes two first-rounders, a 12th and 20th overall pick, thanks to Micah Parsons' trade to the Green Bay Packers for the latter one.

This gives Jones enough leverage to land a deal with other teams hungry for the early picks.

Cleveland Browns' general manager Andrew Berry has spoken publicly about wanting to trade out of the sixth overall pick. With the Cowboys eyeing defensive help, there is a world where Arvell Reese, Rueben Bain Jr., Mansoor Delane, Caleb Downs, and Sonny Styles are all off the board before the Cowboys are on the clock.

Could moving up to six make sense for the Cowboys?

Reports suggest the most logical move for Dallas would be a trade-up. Per Dawg Pound Daily mock trade, the Browns receive three picks (No.12, 20 and 152) in exchange for the sixth and 39th overall picks.

It's no secret the Boys need help defensively after ranking dead last in points allowed last season.

However, as optimistic and diplomatic as Jerry Jones may sound, fans were notably disappointed with his remarks.

Fans Have Mixed Feelings About Jerry Jones’ Comments

The fanbase is divided on the trade-up or down strategy. A few feel the move would help Dallas grab better players.

"Love that! It's good to be flexible once the draft gets going," one fan commented.

While others pointed out the contract extension situation with George Pickens.

"If we trade up that mean we gone have some money to sign them but why not Pickens?" a supporter asked.

"ima say it again if it involves GP i dont want us movin up. im coo w 12 & 20," another added.

But obviously, the Cowboys are expected to cater to their defensive needs this draft and the fans had some suggestions.

"Go get Styles or Downs.. or Bain. Anything else in a trade up is failure," wrote another.

Jerry Jones made his popular "bust the budget" remarks, but the free agency moves, fans aren't convinced he delivered on that promise.

"He also said he was going to spend big on free agency don't believe it till I see it," said another.

These reactions highlight growing doubts among fans toward Jerry Jones’ approach, with many questioning both the team’s draft strategy and its commitment to key decisions like the George Pickens situation.
