NFL Fans Disregard Jerry Jones' Bold Claim for 2026 Season

Jerry Jones is at it again. Right on cue during the off-season, he has made his usual claims that the Cowboys will be a force this coming season.

Jerry Jones was at TMZ's Fanatics event, where a reporter quizzed Jones on what message he had for the fans going into the 2026 season.

He was characteristically optimistic that his team could bounce back. "On this day in the NFL, you can go from a pumpkin to a carrot, so to speak," Jones said. "And you can do it in a year, or you can do it in two years. I understand how it's done and not done."

Jones’ take on overhauling the Cowboys' defense comes after the hire of their new defensive coordinator, Christian Parker. Parker is not someone you would expect Jones to hire, usually, given his previous track record.

At 34, Parker is the youngest defensive coordinator in Cowboys history. Jones himself remarked that he was not involved in Parker’s hire. Parker earlier worked with the Philadelphia Eagles and was part of the coaching squad that led to their Super Bowl victory in 2025. He is also a disciple of top coach Vic Fangio, having previously worked with him in the Denver Broncos and Philadelphia Eagles.

But Despite the Changes and Additions to the Defense, Fans Aren’t Convinced

The Cowboys have not won a Super Bowl in the last 30 years, which has led them to be frustrated year after year. Going from America’s team that created a legacy in the 90s to a 30-year drought has been difficult for the franchise and fans alike.

That's why one fan kicked things off by saying, "Until he gives up GM and President duties they’re doomed. 30 consecutive seasons without an NFC Championship appearance longest drought in the NFC."

Another added, "Bro says this every year and gets the same results." Back in January 2024, Jones made a similar promise when he said, "We will be going all-in." The Cowboys ended the season 7-10.

One user said, “Same Jerry talking points, year after year. We will believe it when we see it”. Another wrote, “Sounds like the same thing they say every year, just different wording.”

But that's not all. With the loss of Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers and the Dallas Cowboys' defense looking shaky, another fan was very blunt in his assessment, saying, " If Jerry Jones had more carrots, perhaps he wouldn't have fired some of the best talents he had simply to get his own folks in."

Jones is well known for making most of the hiring decisions of coaches and players, and who to let go. One fan seems to think it's time for new decision makers: "Every year I have to hear it’s the cowboys year ,until you guys realize that it’s Jerry keeping you from winning and until he is gone you will not win an owner is not a coach but he thinks he is and all the final decision go through him and you can’t disagree if you want your job."

Will this be the change the Cowboys so desperately need as their team and fans chase the Super Bowl dream? Let us know in the comments.
