The Dallas Cowboys fans are impatient as days go by. After having two abysmal seasons, they are hungry for success.
For Jerry Jones and the Cowboys, plenty of work has already been put in motion ahead of the 2026 NFL season. One such move is restructuring the contract of star quarterback Dak Prescott.
According to Adam Schefter, the Dallas Cowboys have created $47 million in cap room after restructuring the contracts of Dak Prescott and Tyler Smith.
Dak Prescott is one of the Cowboys' captains and has been instrumental when he suits up. His numbers speak for themselves last season, throwing the football for 4,552 yards and scoring 30 touchdowns.
At the Cowboys, Prescott won the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2016 and has been named a Pro Bowler four times. In 2023, he was added to the Second-Team All-Pro. Prescott also led the NFL with the most passing touchdowns in 2023.
Prescott is now helping the Cowboys off the field by restructuring his contract and hoping to get some much-needed help at the defensive end.
How are the fans reacting to this news?
Dak Prescott is one name; Tyler Smith also had his contract restructured. The next candidate to follow is star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.
Another fan said, “Dak and Smith are such team players. We should be grateful to have them. Willing to maneuver their contracts for the betterment of the team.”
Fans appreciated the gesture made by Prescott and Smith. Yes, the money is still theirs for the taking, but deferring it helps the team in the short term.
Another football fan said, “I hate saying it, but Dallas has potential next year.” This fan believes that Jones and the Cowboys are heading in the right direction and could have some potential next year.
“Big cap move. Dallas is loading up for a serious run,” another user commented.
The Dallas Cowboys fan base would hope that they make the perfect moves this free agency and be able to witness some postseason games.
