The Dallas Cowboys traded Micah Parsons right before the start of the 2025 season. However, it seems that his link with the Cowboys is still alive through wide receiver George Pickens, and that's not good news for Dallas.
On Parsons’ podcast, The Edge with Micah Parsons, he asked the wide receiver, "You ready to be that green and gold?" implying he was offering Pickers a spot in the Packers roster.
George Pickens shook his hand and laughed in response. Pickens joined the Cowboys from the Pittsburgh Steelers at the start of the 2025 season and did well. He played 17 games, notched 1,429 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns.
Now that he is approaching free agency, the Cowboys may look retain the WR. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Cowboys could be looking to slap a franchise tag on the wide receiver. He would then get a one-year deal worth $28 million.
What's worth noting, however, is that Parsons and Pickens share the same agent in David Mulugheta of Athletes First. It was Mulugheta who negotiated Parsons' move to the Packers after a breakdown of the relationship with the Cowboys’ owner, Jerry Jones.
Since joining the Packers, Micah Parsons has already brought in ex-teammate Trevon Diggs, though he played just two games before being released by the franchise in January 2026.
Dallas Cowboys ready to fight to keep George Pickens beyond 2026
With a potential franchise tag on their wide receiver, the Cowboys will be looking to get a contract extension and keep Pickens on their roster beyond the 2026 season.
Speaking to the official website of the Cowboys, the owner, Jerry Jones, said, "I'm talking to George all the time by virtue of my excitement for him," said Jones.
'He's better than, as far as what he contributed to our team, showing the potential that he could contribute. I'm looking forward to getting things worked out so George can be a Cowboy for a long time," added the Cowboys owner.
However, that's easier said than done. Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb will get $25 million in base salary in 2026. Their salary cap is at $29 million, meaning that the Cowboys will have to balance their books if they want to negotiate with George Pickens to stay with them.
So what do you think? Will the Dallas Cowboys succeed in retaining George Pickens? Tell us in the comments.
