The Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles have struck six draft‑day trades since 1989, per ESPN. On Thursday night, during the 2026 NFL Draft, their latest deal marked the seventh trade between the two clubs.
The Eagles general manager, Howie Roseman, traded for the No. 20 and No. 218 picks from Dallas. In return, the Cowboys and owner Jerry Jones received the No. 23 and two fourth-round selections (No. 114 and No. 137).
Now the updated Dallas Cowboys picks are:
- Round 1: No. 11th pick, drafted safety Caleb Downs
- Round 1: No. 23rd pick via the Philadelphia Eagles, drafted edge Malachi Lawrence
- Round 3: No. 92nd pick via the San Francisco 49ers
- Round 4: No. 112th pick
- Round 4: No. 114th via the Philadelphia Eagles
- Round 4: No. 137th via the Philadelphia Eagles
- Round 5: No. 152nd pick
As per Sports Illustrated, Jones needed Malachi Lawrence to rebuild a pass rush that struggled significantly in 2025 after Micah Parsons was traded to the Green Bay Packers.
That's the void Lawrence can fill as he ended his career ranked No. 10 on UCF's all-time sacks list with 20.
In this trade, Jones and Roseman executed a draft pick swap like their 2021 deal.
That year, the Cowboys traded the No. 10 overall pick to the Eagles and received the No. 12 overall pick and a third-round pick (No. 84 overall).
With that 10th pick, the Eagles selected Alabama Crimson Tide’s wide receiver DeVonta Smith, the 2020 Heisman Trophy winner.
And the Cowboys selected Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons 12th overall and Iowa Hawkeyes’ defensive end Chauncey Golston with the acquired third-round pick.
But this recent trade is receiving a mixed reaction from the Cowboys' fandom.
Cowboys & Eagles Trade Sparks Strong Reactions From NFL Fans
The moment the Cowboys and Eagles agreed to the deal, the reactions came pouring in on the X post by Dallas' official account. Because it wasn’t just about the trade, it was about who the Boys traded with.
“ARE WE F****** D***???? The f****** eagles !!?????” one fan posted, capturing the disbelief.
That frustration quickly turned toward the front office.
“F****** m***** g****** I can't wait til the Joneses are gone,” another fan said.
But some fans felt trading down made sense, just not with the Eagles.
"Don’t like that it’s with the Eagles, but I’m happy to trade down here," a fan wrote.
Another pointed out how the Cowboys landed a deal that gave them three picks in exchange for two.
"BIG MOVE WE HAVE CAPITAL AND WILL STILL GET WHO WE WANT," noted another.
Still, many fans believe that they should never work with a divisional rival.
“Never trade within the Division!! Especially the iggles!!!” one fan posted.
