Another update on the Maxx Crosby saga. The Dallas Cowboys and Jerry Jones consulted their team doctor and decided not to re-engage in talks for the star pass rusher.
The Cowboys were also big fans of the pass rusher and even made an offer, but Vegas chose the Ravens because they met the Raiders’ asking price. However, NFL insider Jane Slater has another theory.
While appearing on 105.3 The Fan, the insider argued what Maxx Crosby's doctor said. "He talked about the risk assessment of the cartilage and the stress around the bone."
“So, if there’s a risk there, and the Cowboys were going to give up a first-round pick, a veteran player, and a second-round pick... that’s a pretty big gamble if there’s a high-risk assessment," said Slater.
Slater and the hosts also theorized whether Cowboys' doctor, Dan Cooper, consulted the Ravens and found out the extent of Crosby's injury.
Slater's statement comes after The Athletic's Dianna Russani posted something similar just hours after the Ravens' trade fell through.
"The Dallas Cowboys are not expected to re-engage in Maxx Crosby trade discussions at this time, a high-ranking source tells The Athletic," she posted on X. However, losing Max Crosby wasn't the only blow for the Cowboys.
Did the Ravens poach another Dallas target besides Maxx Crosby?
Trey Hendrickson became a free agent after missing out on the Cincinnati Bengals' franchise tag. The consensus was that the Cowboys would be for the defender.
However, Jones and the front office may have had other plans. Yesterday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Ravens had reached an agreement with Hendrickson.
"Trey Hendrickson’s four-year deal worth up to $120 million with the Ravens includes $60 million fully guaranteed and a $20 million signing bonus," posted Schefter.
'For 8, 10, 12, and 14 sacks per season, he also gets an additional $500,000 for each threshold he meets," added the reporter.
The Ravens were reported to be in contact with Hendrickson and pivoted hard after the Maxx Crosby deal fell through.
That being said, it's yet to be determined where Maxx Crosby will play, but there's little chance it will be AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas.
