The Dallas Cowboys have a major decision to make on George Pickens. Super Bowl champion Torry Holt has a simple message for the front office about the star receiver's future.
Holt said on the Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams, “I think they should make him a Cowboy, opposite of CeeDee Lamb. I think the Cowboys should do the right thing.”
“George is unbelievably talented, like a freak of nature, unbelievable,” he told host Kay Adams. “The only thing I want George to get better at is his situational football. Lock in all the time, be aware of what’s going on, grow up, in a sense, is basically what I’m saying,” Torry Holt added.
With free agency approaching for Pickens, the Cowboys are reportedly considering putting a franchise tag on their star wide receiver. Pickens, whom the Cowboys got from the Pittsburgh Steelers last May, had a standout season.
He covered a career-best 1,429 yards and had 9 touchdowns, proving a perfect foil for CeeDee Lamb. At 24 years old, Pickens should be entering his peak soon and has yet to reach his full potential.
Even if the Cowboys decide to put a franchise tag on their wide receiver, a long-term contract should be the top priority as they look to secure his services for the foreseeable future.
CeeDee Lamb on George Pickens’ talent
CeeDee Lamb has voiced his opinion about retaining Pickens. Speaking in an interview with FanSided, he said, "Even when you're tired, you have another guy that's ready to make a play, that'll give you your energy back. I call him an energizer. Like he's gonna bring that swag to the position, that energy, that toughness, and everything in between.”
CeeDee Lamb especially admired Pickens’ work ethic. "Just watching him grow overall as a player, mentally, and the way that he prepares week in and week out, so I feel like I got the closer look to see how great he really is," added Lamb.
The Cowboys’ offense last season was a powerhouse, with Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Pickens forming a great partnership. They were second in the NFL in passing yards per game and sixth in points per game.
