Almost a decade later, former NFL cornerback Adam 'Pacman' Jones has revealed a surprising story involving the Cowboys owner, Jerry Jones, playing a role in his return to the NFL after his suspension in 2007.
During the July 1 episode of the Bobby Bones podcast, Pacman Jones revealed that TNA’s President, Dixie Carter, helped him land a call with Jerry Jones, and play for his childhood favorite team, the Cowboys.
“Dixie is the one who called Jerry for me," Jones said, per Jeremy Lambert of Fightful.com. "Dixie is kin to Jerry Jones in some type of way. She asked me, ‘Who do you want to play for? If you had one choice, who would it be?’ Growing up, I was a Cowboys fan. First thing I said was Cowboys."

Pacman Jones was traded by the Tennessee Titans to the Cowboys in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft in April 2008.
Before that, he was previously suspended for the 2007 season for violating the NFL's player conduct policy after his stint with the Titans.
Pacman Jones further shared that after a championship game at TNA, Carter had him connect with Jerry Jones, which eventually led him to play for his dream team for one season.
"The week before the championship match, she said, ‘I have somebody I want you to talk to. Take the phone," Jones said, per Jeremy Lambert of Fightful.com. "Hello.’ ‘Hey, this is Jerry Jones.’ Are you f****** kidding me? ‘I heard you wanted to play for the Cowboys.’ ‘It would be a dream come true."
Pacman Jones said that Jerry Jones flew in for his TNA Tag Title Match, and he later flew to Dallas to move forward with the plan of getting reinstated.
He played for only nine games in 2008 with the Cowboys, while being suspended for 6 games after he violated the league policy regarding his behavior off the field.
The Cowboys released him eventually after his continuous legal troubles and behavioral issues, leaving him out of the NFL for another year before he was brought in by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2010.
Pacman revived his career after leaving Dallas
Adam Jones joined the Bengals after his one-year stint with the Cowboys. In Cincinnati, he played for eight years and landed his first Pro Bowl (2015) and First-Team All-Pro (2014).
"Pacman [his former name before 'Adam'] got left in Dallas," Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said, per Rowan Kavner of the DallasCowboys.com. "He's obviously turned his life around in a lot of ways. It's fun to see him as a dad and doing the things he's doing here. He's really helped a lot of the young players."
Though he proved to be a changed man during his stint with the Bengal for initial periods, he was penalised for unnecessary roughness and unsportsmanlike conduct during the 2015 season.
Pacman Jones later announced his retirement in 2018 after playing with the Denver Broncos for a year.
