Defensive tackle Quinnen Williams has quickly found his place with the Dallas Cowboys, and now he is revealing the people who have helped him along the way. 

Speaking to the media in Oxnard, California, on 13th August, after signing his three-year contract extension with the Cowboys, Williams opened up about the role his wife and family played after his 2025 trade from the New York Jets.  

“My [family], they mean a lot to me, man,” Williams said in a @Dallas Cowboys YouTube video. “When I got traded, it was like a whirlwind. My family kind of helped me do everything off the scene, and just helped me focus on football. And, my wife, man — they're my support system and the reason why I wake up every day with the mentality and the leadership I carry myself with, and it's super amazing to have them.” 

In the interview posted on the @Dallas Cowboys YouTube channel, he said the move felt like a “whirlwind,” but his family handled things away from the field and helped him stay focused on football.

Williams joined the Cowboys at the 2025 trade deadline after Dallas acquired him from the New York Jets. The Cowboys sent a conditional first-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft and former second-round pick Mazi Smith in the deal.

The trade came as Williams was moving into a new chapter of his career. He made an immediate impact for Dallas, recording 1.5 sacks in his Cowboys debut against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Since the trade, his importance to the Cowboys has grown. He was named to the team’s leadership council and has also taken on a role in helping his teammates improve.

His new three-year extension keeps him in Dallas through 2030, giving him a chance to continue building on that role with the Cowboys.

Williams’ own words make it clear that his wife and family have been a major support system. Especially after his move to Dallas, they helped him handle things away from football so he could stay focused on the game. 

Beyond the support of his family, Williams’ mindset has also remained firmly centered on what he wants to achieve on the field.

While speaking to the media in Oxnard after agreeing to his new extension, Williams explained that he did not spend much time celebrating the deal.

Instead, his attention quickly returned to improving himself, helping his teammates and winning games with the Cowboys. 

“It wasn't a big celebration [after agreeing to terms],” Williams said. “I'm a firm believer in, like, I'm so focused on winning. I'm so focused on getting better as an individual and as a unit, and that's kind of my main focus, you know what I'm saying? So, [over] the next five years, I want to win, and I want to win a lot of games.” 

Looking ahead to the next five years, Williams made it clear that regular-season wins are not enough for him. The DT wanted to take the Cowboys to the Super Bowl and win it.

Williams’ comments show that the new extension has not changed his priorities, with winning and getting better still at the center of his mindset as he looks ahead with the Cowboys.
