Seven-time NBA All-Star Joe Johnson has named a certain Dallas Cowboys wide receiver as the Cowboys “hidden gem” following their 17-7 win over the reigning champions Seattle Seahawks, while talking about established stars CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens.

While discussing the Cowboys wide receiver room on the Nightcap podcast, Johnson gave the undrafted rookie free agent Camden Brown a special tag.

“But I do like that Camden Brown kid because think about this,” Johnson said. “You got Lamb and Pickens out there, man. If you can come up, you know, and I know we got other receivers, too, but to have a hidden gem like this- oh, man. It’s perfect.”

Johnson shared his thoughts with Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson on the Nightcap podcast on August 16. Brown recorded 62 receiving yards and three catches, including two touchdowns, from Joe Milton and Sam Howell.

While Lamb and Pickens are considered one of the best WR duos in the league, ranking sixth and 19th among the highest-paid WRs, respectively, having a backup like Brown can make the Cowboys indestructible in this position.

Brown showed his abilities on the occasion, and also spoke about the thing that motivated him to perform.

Brown’s day turned out exactly how he wanted it to, and he has given the credit to his late sister. He explained that he always thought of his late sister while getting ready for a game.

Brown explained that being undrafted didn’t affect him and that his family, especially his sister, always proved people wrong. And the WR honored his sister by carrying that determination onto the field with him.

“She had kidney failure,” Brown explained, according to the Dallas Cowboys. “People said she wasn’t going to make it past three. But she still proved people wrong, and she lived to 17 years old.”

Brown signed a three-year, $3.1 million contract with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent on May 1, 2026. Being the backup for Lamb and Pickens, he can grow to be a vital star for the team.

While Brown impressed, he also talked about the importance of gratitude in his life.

“I don’t feel complacent,” Brown said. “I wake up with an edge and show gratitude; I don’t show up every day and be like, ‘Man, I gotta survive today.'”

After this game, it certainly looks like Brown may have been the undrafted jackpot Dallas was looking for, or the hidden gem, as Johnson says.

The Cowboys will next play the Arizona Cardinals on August 22, and Brown could feature in that game as well.
