The Dallas Cowboys front office has a pile of contracts to sort out, yet they’re still aggressively chasing top talent. They pushed hard for Maxx Crosby, three separate attempts, but got shut down each time. After that miss, the Cowboys seem to be the frontrunners to land star EDGE Myles Garrett. Former Broncos icon Shannon Sharpe added his thoughts to this trade.
On a recent episode of Nightcap, Sharpe sat down with former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson, who suggested that Garrett might be in line to wear the Lone Star.
“He might end up in Dallas," Ocho said.

Sharpe, with a poker-face expression, added that the Cleveland Browns might not trade their best defender to Dallas without getting one of the Cowboys' bests - George Pickens, who is franchise tagged for this year.
“They can get mad all they want to," Sharpe said. "I don't see them trading them to Dallas without Pickens coming.”
Myles Garrett is one of the best defensive players in the league right now. Ranked No. 1 overall by PFF, he won the 2025 Defensive Player of the Year and recorded 23 sacks, the most in a single season. That kind of pass rushing is a want across all teams, but no one needs him more than the Cowboys.
No Dallas fan needs reminding of how the defensive line struggled after the disastrous Micah Parsons trade. But they will not be ready to part with Pickens either, who ended up being a jackpot trade for Dallas. He registered a career-high 1,429 receiving yards in his debut year with the team.
But a like-for-like swap is the only way Dallas can still have a shot at securing Garrett to fix their D-line. But Garrett's contract with the Browns will make it tough for Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to make a move.
Jerry Jones might get a reality check on Myles Garrett
We all know what kind of tough negotiator Jerry Jones is. He’s been holding up several contracts right now, including George Pickens and Brandon Aubrey. However, the owner might face a reality check when it comes to Garrett.
Earlier this month, the Browns tweaked their contract with Myles Garrett, adding new language that gives the team more salary cap flexibility down the road. The new deal has moved his due date to receive option bonuses for the 2027, 2028, and 2029 seasons to seven days later (the original contract had scheduled them on March 15 of every year).
And, the $8 million base salary of his 2029 and 2030 have been made part of early roster bonuses. By the looks of it, getting Garrett as of now seems out of the question for Dallas.
But if they do come close to pulling off such a deal, it won't be possible without the Cowboys offering some top-round picks, along with Pickens. Cleveland could not bring in any of the top receivers in free agency, and head coach Todd Monken will be happy to reunite with his former Georgia Bulldogs star in Pickens.
It all depends on which team sets the tone and which team relents first in this potential trade.
