Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was arrested on suspicion of operating a vehicle while under the influence in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on July 23, according to a Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.
The report stated that the CBS Sports lead NFL game analyst was traveling southbound on Interstate 43 before he was pulled over for field sobriety tests. He was arrested on charges of OWI, also referred to as DUI in other states, and was later released on bond.
“The 46-year-old was stopped Thursday around 6:18 p.m. and 'performed poorly' on standardized field sobriety tests, per the report," according to Field Level Media via Reuters. “He was taken into custody and booked before being released at approximately 11 p.m., and has a court date scheduled for Sept. 21.”

According to the Field Level Media report via Reuters, a first-offense OWI carries a fine between $ 150 and $ 300 and is considered to be a civil offense in Romo’s native Wisconsin.
The four-time Pro Bowler was signed by the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2003 and started playing as a starter from 2006.
He completed 2,829 of 4,335 passes (65.3%) for 34,183 yards and recorded 248 touchdowns (franchise leader in total touchdowns) and 117 interceptions, across 13 seasons with the Cowboys.
He led the Cowboys to the playoffs four times and finished his career with a 2-4 playoff record.
The former Cowboys QB had previously expressed his regret for not leading the Cowboys to a Super Bowl appearance despite holding franchise records during his tenure.
Tony Romo reflects on Cowboys legacy with one lasting regret
During his appearance on an episode of the Pardon My Take podcast by Barstool Sports on July 13, Romo expressed his regret in not bringing a Vince Lombardi Trophy to the franchise.
"The only regret I guess I would have is that my job was to bring a Super Bowl to Dallas and I didn't do it," Romo said during an episode of the Pardon My Take podcast by Barstool Sports on July 13. "Because you give your whole body, heart, soul, everything into it. And so that one always sticks with me a little bit just because I had that opportunity and just wasn't able to do it."
He said he wanted to win the Super Bowl for the Jones family and the Cowboys fan base, which has been waiting for another Super Bowl since the franchise last won in the 1995 season.
Romo has been working as a lead game analyst for CBS' NFL coverage since his NFL retirement in 2017.
CBS has not commented on whether his arrest will affect his role. More clarity on the case is expected when Romo appears in court on September 21.
