Everyone knows that records are meant to be broken. But there are a few that are so enormous that they don't look like they will ever be broken. In the National Football League, these are some of the most unbreakable records.
22,895 Career Receiving Yards - Jerry Rice
Jerry Rice, the former San Francisco 49er, set this record 20 years ago, when he retired from the NFL in 2026. There is no past or current player in the top-15 to fight him for the crown, which shows how legendary his career was. The closest anyone has come is Cardinals icon Larry Fitzgerald, who ended his career with 17,492 career receiving yards.
81 Career Interceptions - Paul Krause
During the 60s and 70s, Paul Krouse troubled many offenses by always finding himself in a position to pick the quarterback. This record has been in place for decades now. He set the record by beating former Giants icon Emlen Tunnell's total of 79 career interceptions, who had retired before him.
18,355 Career Rushing Yards - Emmitt Smith
Smith torched the NFL field during his 14-year long career with his speedy legs. He ended up not only having the highest career rushing yards total, but also leading the NFL with rushing touchdowns (164) and rushing attempts (4,409). The closest current player in the race to break this record is Derrick Henry, who is still in 10th place.
Four Consecutive Super Bowl Losses - Buffalo Bills
Bills fans will know the pain it takes to carry this unpleasant record. Buffalo has famously lost four Super Bowls in a row: 1991, 1992, 1993, and 1994. Two of those were against America’s Team in the Dallas Cowboys (1993, 1994). This was quite a shocking pattern, since the Bills were a regular postseason contender in the late 80s and early 90s.
Seven Super Bowl QB Wins - Tom Brady
An NFL records list will always be incomplete without the GOAT, Tom Brady. He sits right at the top in Super Bowl wins, with six of them coming from his Patriots tenure, and one with Tampa Bay. Brady also holds the record for career passing yards at 89,214 and a host of other records in the NFL.
By the looks of it, these records will hold their place for a very, very long time.
